Being in the foothills of the Alps, Lake Orta offers
a superb choice of walking, from lowland walks on the level hugging the shore
of the lake, walks exploring the charming local villages, easy walks up to
some of the lower hills with great views of the Alps, and more serious walking
up into the higher moutains. All these walks can be enjoyed in any
season.
We provide in your location pack a set of local walks that we have enjoyed ourselves, to get you started. Some of these walks make use of the country lanes and ancient cobbled mulattiere (mule tracks), both in the lowland hills, and up in the mountains. Many of the walks are through the chestunt woods, so typical of the area, with wonderful views of Lake Orta and the local villages and sights (see picture on right). The directions and sketch maps we provide are tailored for your apartment, with most walks starting from your front door!
