Our experience of renting property dates back more than 20 years to when William first rented the second bedroom in his London apartment to an old school friend, and since then has always rented something, either his London apartment while he was in Italy, or our Italian holiday home.

At first we used to put lineage ads in the Sunday newspapers for our one holiday home, then around 1998 things developed on two fronts: friends in Italy asked us to rent their apartments for them, and we began this web site - on a free domain - mainly to be able to show the pictures of the apartments we had on offer, which meant we didn't have to post expensive colour photocopies! In 2000, with internet usage ever more widespread, we transferred our web site to the current domain LakeOrta.com, where it has remained ever since (we have a mirror site Orta.biz mainly to be able to direct clients to should the main domain become temporarily unavailable), whilst at the same time the number of apartments on offer continued to grow.

In 2006 we had some 20 apartments on offer, but we have since slimmed this down, declining to act as agents for accommodation where we felt the owner wasn't responding adequately to feedback or was asking unrealistic prices. Today we offer seventeen apartments, and more than 95% of our enquiries come via the web.

Our aim is to share our love of Lake Orta with you our holidaymakers: we aim to make your experience as enjoyable and complete as possible, whether you are looking for a relaxing stay away from pressures back home, or want to see as much as you can of this wonderful area and neighbouring parts of Italy. We want you to come away feeling you've had good value for money, and we are touched that every year so many of you choose to come back to Lake Orta.
